Class Description:

This course will focus upon American environmental literature selections spanning the 19th and 20th centuries. We will read authors such as Emerson, Thoreau, Muir, Carson, Leopold, with humor added by the likes of Edward Abbey. Assignments will include significant reading (of course), four reader response essays spaced throughout the semester, one book report (your choice from a long list of possibilities), a mid-term thought paper that begins to explore a topic of your choosing, and a final research paper that critically examines your topic selection.  If you have questions about this course, please email me at alhein01@louisville.edu
